Atomic Backlands

The Atomic Backlands are designed as a hybrid. While they excel in the backcountry due to their lightweight construction and touring-friendly profile, their edge hold and stability make them perfectly capable for deep-snow days at the resort.

The HRZN 3D tip increases the surface area at the front of the ski, which helps it float better in powder and reduces swing weight. This makes the ski feel more maneuverable and less sluggish when you are navigating tight trees or variable snow conditions.

Since the waist width is 108.5 mm, you will need a binding with a brake width that is at least 108.5 mm wide, but no more than 123.5 mm wide. This ensures the brake clears the ski properly without catching on the snow.

While the Backlands prioritize weight savings and powder performance, the Dura Cap Sidewall construction provides reliable edge grip. However, because they are lightweight touring skis, they may feel less planted than a dedicated, heavy metal-laminate resort ski when carving on pure ice.

These skis are best suited for intermediate to advanced skiers. The lightweight, responsive nature of the wood core requires a skier who has the technique to manage the ski's energy, especially in challenging or variable terrain.
