This ski is specifically designed for backcountry touring and fitness laps. While it can handle resort groomers in a pinch, its lightweight construction and specialized tip design are optimized for climbing efficiency and navigating variable, un-groomed snow conditions.

The 85mm waist is narrow enough to keep the ski lightweight and agile for long climbs, making it an excellent choice for fitness touring or firm, technical terrain. It offers quick edge-to-edge transitions, though it will have less flotation in deep powder compared to wider backcountry skis.

The HRZN Tech tip increases the surface area of the ski's tip by 10% without adding significant weight. This helps the ski float better in soft snow and prevents the tip from deflecting or hooking when you encounter crusty or uneven snow conditions.

Not significantly. Atomic uses a Dura Cap sidewall construction, which wraps the topsheet over the core to protect the edges from impacts. This design is specifically engineered to withstand the daily wear and tear associated with regular touring use.
