While the S5 is engineered primarily for speed and racing, its geometry is stable and predictable. However, because it prioritizes aerodynamic stiffness over compliance, riders looking for maximum comfort on all-day rides might prefer a more endurance-focused frame.

The integrated V-Stem and cockpit design are specifically engineered to offer extensive fit adjustments despite the hidden cable routing. You can fine-tune your reach and stack height, though making significant changes to the bar width or stem length may require specific proprietary components.

This bike excels on flat to rolling terrain where aerodynamic efficiency provides the greatest advantage. Its stiff bottom bracket also makes it highly responsive during sprints and punchy climbs, though it is not a dedicated lightweight climbing bike.

The S5 is designed for stability, but like any deep-section aero bike, it can be more sensitive to strong crosswinds than a traditional round-tube frame. The handling remains predictable, but riders should be prepared for the bike to catch more wind than a standard road bike.

Because the S5 uses a proprietary integrated cockpit system to hide cables for aerodynamic performance, you cannot use standard aftermarket handlebars. Any changes to the bar setup must be compatible with the Cervélo V-Stem system.

The S5 is designed for modern electronic shifting systems to maintain its clean, integrated aesthetic and cable-free cockpit. It is not compatible with traditional mechanical cable routing.
