While the TX99 is engineered specifically for backcountry touring due to its lightweight construction, its stable sandwich sidewall design performs surprisingly well on resort groomers. However, if you spend the majority of your time on hardpack, you might prefer a heavier, more damp ski from Kästle's resort-focused collections.

The 99mm waist is a true 'quiver-of-one' width for touring. It is wide enough to provide excellent float in deep powder, yet narrow enough to remain agile and responsive when you encounter firm, icy, or wind-scoured snow on the descent.

The luminous tip is designed to glow in low-light conditions, which is a practical safety feature for pre-dawn starts or late-afternoon descents. Beyond visibility, the tip construction is also designed to reduce swing weight, making the ski feel lighter and easier to maneuver during technical turns.

The TX99 is built for advanced skiers who demand precision and reliability in challenging terrain. Because of its lightweight core and specific flex pattern, it can be demanding to control for those still mastering basic technique; it is best suited for someone who already has a solid foundation in backcountry navigation.

The double rocker profile—featuring rocker in both the tip and tail—makes the ski highly maneuverable and playful in soft snow. It allows for easier turn initiation and helps the ski plane on top of powder, though it does slightly reduce the effective edge length compared to a traditional cambered ski.

Kästle uses a carbon and fiberglass wound core to balance weight and performance, which keeps the ski damp and stable despite its light touring weight.
