Beal Stinger Unicore

The Unicore process bonds the rope's core and sheath together. This prevents the sheath from slipping or bunching up, which significantly improves safety and longevity, especially if the sheath gets cut or damaged.

While the Stinger is a high-performance rope, its 9.4mm diameter is on the thinner side. It handles beautifully, but it requires a belayer who is comfortable managing a thinner rope, as it will run faster through most belay devices compared to a thicker, beginner-friendly rope.

The UIAA-certified Dry Cover treatment helps the rope resist absorbing water, which keeps it lighter and more supple in damp or icy conditions. While it isn't fully waterproof, it provides excellent protection for alpine environments or unexpected weather.

Generally, thinner ropes wear out faster than thicker ones due to less material. However, the Unicore construction helps mitigate some of that wear by keeping the sheath intact, making this a durable option for its weight class.

You can use it in the gym, but it is really designed for outdoor sport climbing where weight and handling are priorities. Using it exclusively in the gym will wear it out much faster than a thicker, dedicated gym rope.

The Black Limit middle mark is a permanent, high-contrast indicator that helps you quickly identify the center of the rope. This is essential for safe rappelling and ensuring you have enough rope to lower your partner back to the ground.
