Maxxis Rekon+ Mountain Tire

The Rekon+ is designed for loose to moderate trail conditions. Its ramped center knobs keep you moving fast on hardpack, while the aggressive side lugs provide the bite you need for loose corners and technical descents.

While it is 'Tubeless Ready,' you can run it with an inner tube if you prefer. However, running it tubeless is highly recommended to take full advantage of the lower rolling resistance and increased traction this tire offers.

The Wide Trail casing is specifically optimized for rims with an inner width of 30mm to 35mm. Using it on rims within this range ensures the tire profile sits correctly, providing better stability and cornering support.

The EXO+ casing combines Maxxis's EXO sidewall protection with SilkShield bead-to-bead protection. This dual-layer approach provides significantly better cut and abrasion resistance, making it much more durable against sharp rocks and trail debris without adding excessive weight.

While it is optimized for wider rims, it can technically fit on narrower ones. However, you may find the tire profile becomes too rounded, which can negatively impact cornering stability and cause the tire to feel squirmy at lower pressures.

The maximum pressure is 35 PSI, but for a 2.8-inch tire, you will likely want to run it much lower to maximize grip and comfort. Most riders find the sweet spot between 15 and 20 PSI, depending on rider weight and rim width.
