While it is a Tubeless Ready tire designed for sealant use, you can certainly run it with inner tubes if you prefer. However, running it tubeless allows you to lower your tire pressure for better grip and puncture protection.

The 120 TPI (threads per inch) casing is supple and flexible, which allows the tire to conform better to trail obstacles. This improves ride quality and traction compared to tires with a lower, stiffer thread count.

The Ikon is primarily designed for speed on hardpack and mixed terrain. While it handles diverse conditions well, it is not a dedicated mud tire; if you frequently ride in deep mud, you might want a tire with deeper, more widely spaced knobs.
