It is a true hybrid boot. It is designed to handle aggressive resort skiing with a stiff 130 flex, but it includes a walk mode and GripWalk soles that make it fully capable for backcountry touring.

The BOA Fit System allows for more precise, micro-adjustments across the forefoot, which helps eliminate pressure points and creates a more uniform wrap around your foot. It provides a snug, secure hold that is easier to dial in than standard buckles.

The 100mm last is considered a medium fit, making it a versatile choice for average-width feet. Because the liner is heat-moldable, you can further customize the fit to accommodate slight variations in foot shape.

The Free/Lock 4.5 walk mode offers 54 degrees of range of motion. This is sufficient for efficient skinning and climbing on most backcountry tours without feeling overly restrictive.

The Atomic Hawx Prime XTD features GripWalk soles, so you must use bindings that are GripWalk compatible. Always check your binding specifications to ensure they can accept the rockered profile of a GripWalk sole.

A 130 flex is quite stiff and is generally intended for advanced to expert skiers who need maximum power transfer and responsiveness. If you are an intermediate skier, you may find this boot demanding and less forgiving than a lower-flex model.
