At 860 grams, the Flyer is significantly heavier than modern carbon or synthetic performance saddles. It is built for durability and comfort rather than weight savings, so it is best suited for touring bikes where comfort is the priority over speed.

It is highly recommended to apply a leather dressing, such as Brooks Proofide, before your first ride. This helps nourish the leather, protects it from moisture, and assists in the break-in process.

While the stainless steel rails and springs are durable, any mechanical spring system can develop minor noise over time due to grit or lack of lubrication. A small drop of oil on the contact points of the springs is usually enough to silence any squeaks.
