Elan Ripstick

The Amphibio design uses a specific profile for the inside and outside edges. The inside edge is cambered for grip and stability during turns, while the outside edge is rockered to make turn initiation smoother and more intuitive. This setup gives you the precision of a carving ski on the inside while keeping the ski playful and easy to maneuver on the outside.

While the Ripstick is designed primarily for off-piste and powder, the Tubelite Woodcore and carbon reinforcement provide surprising stability on groomed runs. It handles firm snow well, though it won't feel as locked-in or aggressive as a dedicated race or front-side carving ski.

This ski is best suited for intermediate to expert skiers who spend most of their time off-piste or in variable conditions. If you prioritize a lightweight, nimble feel in deep snow and crud over pure stiffness, this is an excellent choice.

Flax fiber is used in the tips to dampen vibrations and chatter, which is particularly helpful when you're skiing through chopped-up snow or crud. It helps keep the ski quiet and composed without adding the significant weight that metal laminates would.

At 104-107mm underfoot, the Ripstick is wide enough to float in powder but remains surprisingly quick edge-to-edge. The lightweight construction and rocker profile prevent it from feeling sluggish, allowing for snappy transitions even when you're back on the groomers.
