A quilt eliminates the restrictive bottom insulation found in mummy bags, which is often compressed and ineffective anyway. Instead, it relies on your sleeping pad to provide bottom insulation, giving you more freedom to move your legs and arms while saving weight.

The 35-degree rating is a comfort limit for most sleepers, assuming you are using a sleeping pad with an appropriate R-value. If you are a cold sleeper or expect temperatures near freezing, you may want to pair this with a thermal liner or base layers.

DriDown is treated to be water-resistant, meaning it retains its loft and insulating properties much better than untreated down if it gets damp from condensation or humid air. It dries faster and stays warmer in variable backcountry conditions.

The hand pockets are built into the top corners of the quilt, allowing you to wrap the edges snugly around your shoulders. This helps seal out drafts and keeps the quilt secure while you sleep, mimicking the warmth of a hooded bag.

The Nitro Quilt is designed to be used as a standalone system, but it does not feature a dedicated strap system to attach directly to a pad. Its tapered shape and hand pockets are intended to keep it tucked around you naturally.
