RockShox Metric Spring

This spring is designed for metric-sized shocks with a stroke length between 57.5 mm and 65 mm. Before purchasing, verify your shock's stroke length and ensure your current setup is compatible with a 151 mm length spring.

The 225 lb spring rate determines how much force is required to compress the spring. A lighter rider may find this rate provides a plush, active feel, while a heavier rider might find it too soft, leading to bottoming out.

Installing a coil spring is a straightforward process if you have the correct tools, such as a shock spring compressor or the ability to remove the shock's bottom-out bumper. If you are comfortable performing basic suspension maintenance, you should be able to handle the swap.

While steel springs are durable, they should be kept clean and free of debris to prevent noise or wear on the shock body. Periodically check the spring for any signs of corrosion or damage, and ensure the spring collars are tightened correctly to prevent rattling.

Coil springs like this one offer a linear, predictable feel that many riders prefer for technical terrain, as they are less affected by temperature changes than air springs. They are also generally easier to service and rebuild over the long term.
