TRP R1 Rotor

The extra thickness provides greater torsional stiffness, which helps the rotor resist warping under the intense heat generated during long, aggressive descents. This added mass also acts as a heat sink, allowing the rotor to dissipate thermal energy more effectively than standard 1.8mm or 2.0mm rotors.

While it is specifically engineered to handle the higher weight and torque of E-MTBs and downhill bikes, it is fully compatible with any standard mountain bike that uses a 6-bolt mounting interface. If you are a heavier rider or frequently ride steep, demanding terrain, you will benefit from the increased durability regardless of whether your bike has a motor.

This rotor features integrated wear indicators on the braking surface. When the surface wears down to the minimum thickness threshold, these indicators become visible, signaling that it is time to replace the rotor for safety and optimal braking performance.

The TRP R1 is compatible with most standard brake pad compounds, including metallic and organic. However, because this rotor is designed for high-heat, heavy-duty applications, metallic (sintered) pads are often recommended to maximize the braking power and longevity of the system.

Most modern hydraulic disc brake calipers have enough clearance to accommodate a 2.3mm rotor, but it is a good idea to check your specific caliper's maximum rotor thickness compatibility before installation. If your caliper is designed for thinner rotors, the extra thickness may cause rubbing that is difficult to adjust out.
