The 1.7X is an evolution focused on refinement rather than a total redesign. It features upgraded internal components, including higher-quality capacitors and air-core inductors, along with silver-soldered connections to reduce signal loss and improve overall clarity.

With a 4-ohm impedance and 86dB sensitivity, the 1.7X requires a capable amplifier that can handle lower impedance loads comfortably. You will want an amp with good current delivery to ensure the speakers sound dynamic and impactful at various volume levels.

While the 1.7X has a significant physical footprint at 65 inches tall, its planar magnetic design creates a dipole soundstage that can work well in medium-to-large rooms. Because they radiate sound from both the front and back, they require some space away from the front wall to perform at their best.

The 1.7X offers a frequency response down to 40Hz, which provides a satisfying, full-range sound for most music. However, if you are a fan of deep electronic bass or pipe organ music, you may find that adding a high-quality subwoofer helps fill out the lowest octaves.

You can customize the look to fit your room with several trim and fabric combinations. Trim options include natural or black solid oak and dark cherry for a wood look, or silver and black for an aluminum finish, paired with off-white, black, or dark grey fabric.

The Quasi-Ribbon technology allows the speaker to move air with incredible speed and precision, which is why these speakers are known for their clear vocals and instrument separation. This design minimizes distortion and creates a more expansive, 'airy' soundstage compared to traditional cone-based drivers.
