The wood retains its authentic character, including knots and grain variations, but it is finished with a clear-coat catalyzed lacquer. This provides a smooth, protective surface that is safe to the touch while still highlighting the natural history of the 1800s tobacco barn oak.

The bed comes with a complete support system, including solid hardwood side rails, center supports, and slats. While you can use a box spring if you prefer a higher mattress profile, the included slats are designed to provide a stable foundation for your mattress on their own.

The bed frame is designed to accommodate optional underdresser units. If you choose not to add these storage pieces, there is open space beneath the side rails, though the exact clearance will depend on your mattress thickness.

Because each piece is individually handcrafted from authentic reclaimed red oak, no two beds are identical. You should expect natural variations in the wood grain, color, and texture, which are intentional features of the reclaimed material.

The bed arrives as a set of components including the headboard, footboard, side rails, and support slats. While assembly is required, the hardware kit is included, and the components are designed for straightforward construction by two people.
