Irritec Series 700 Top Hat Grommet

A top hat grommet creates a watertight seal when you need to insert a drip irrigation fitting or tubing directly into a larger pipe, such as a manifold or main supply line. It prevents leaks at the connection point and ensures the system maintains proper pressure.

The 400/420 designation refers to the specific outer diameter of the tubing or fitting that will be inserted into the grommet. You should measure the outer diameter of your existing drip tubing or the barb of your fitting to ensure a snug, leak-free fit before purchasing.

You generally do not need specialized tools, but you will need a drill bit to create the correct size hole in your main pipe. Once the hole is drilled and cleaned of debris, the grommet can be pressed in by hand, followed by the insertion of the barb fitting.

While these are designed to standard irrigation specifications, compatibility depends on the outer diameter of your tubing rather than the brand. As long as your tubing or fitting matches the 400/420 size requirement, these grommets should provide a secure connection regardless of the manufacturer.

It is generally recommended to use new grommets when reconfiguring your system. Once a grommet has been compressed and seated in a pipe, it may lose its elasticity or develop small tears upon removal, which can lead to leaks if reinstalled.
