This portafilter is designed specifically for 51mm machines, including most De'Longhi Dedica models and SMEG espresso machines. Please verify that your machine uses a standard 51mm group head before purchasing.

A bottomless portafilter exposes the underside of the filter basket, allowing you to watch the espresso extraction in real-time. This visual feedback is the best way to identify channeling or uneven tamping, helping you refine your technique for a better-tasting shot.

To keep the wood in top condition, avoid soaking the handle in water or putting it in the dishwasher. Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth after use and apply a food-safe wood oil occasionally to maintain its luster and prevent drying.

The included basket is precision-engineered for this 51mm portafilter. While it may physically fit other 51mm baskets, we recommend using the provided basket to ensure a proper seal and consistent extraction results.

Because there is no spout to direct the flow, any uneven extraction or channeling can cause espresso to spray outward. While this is a great diagnostic tool for improving your barista skills, it does require a bit more attention to your puck preparation compared to a standard spouted portafilter.
