Honeynut is a smaller, more concentrated variety developed specifically for superior flavor. While it looks like a mini butternut, it features a much richer, sweeter, and deeper orange flesh that is ideal for roasting or desserts.

While the vines are more compact than traditional butternut varieties, they still require significant space to spread. They are best suited for smaller garden beds or raised rows rather than small containers.

The squash is ready when the rind transitions from a dark green to a deep, rich burnt orange color. It takes approximately 110 days to reach full maturity.

This hybrid variety has intermediate resistance to powdery mildew, which helps it stay healthier throughout the season. To further support plant health, ensure you provide adequate spacing between rows to promote good airflow.

Honeynut squash stores well for two to three months when kept in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated location. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight or areas with high humidity to maximize their shelf life.

For the best germination results, plant the seeds at a depth of 0.75 to 1.0 inch in soil that is consistently between 70 and 75°F. You should see sprouts emerge within 6 to 12 days.
