Optolong L-eNhance Filter

Yes, the Optolong L-eNhance is designed to fit any standard 1.25-inch filter thread. It is compatible with most 1.25-inch telescope eyepieces and dedicated astronomy cameras.

Unlike broadband filters that simply darken the background, this is a multi-bandpass filter. It specifically isolates the emission lines of H-alpha, H-beta, and OIII, allowing you to capture nebula details while effectively blocking the wavelengths typically emitted by city streetlights.

This filter is optimized for emission nebulae, which emit light at specific wavelengths. Because galaxies and star clusters emit a broad spectrum of light, this filter will block much of their signal and is not recommended for those targets.

Because this filter is narrow-band, it does cut down on the total amount of light reaching your sensor. You will likely need to increase your exposure times compared to shooting without a filter, but the resulting increase in contrast and reduction of light pollution usually makes the trade-off worthwhile.

While it can be used visually, it is primarily engineered for astrophotography. The high-contrast effect is most dramatic when capturing long-exposure images of nebulae, though it can provide some contrast enhancement for visual observers under heavy light pollution.
