Takahashi SR-M Tripod

The fixed-height design is a deliberate engineering choice to maximize structural rigidity. By removing the moving parts and clamps found in adjustable tripods, Takahashi eliminates potential points of flex and vibration, which is critical for long-exposure astrophotography.

The SR-M is specifically engineered for the Takahashi EM-400 equatorial mount. While it may be physically possible to adapt other mounts, doing so is not recommended as it compromises the stability and vibration-dampening performance the tripod is designed to provide.

Wood is naturally superior at dampening high-frequency vibrations compared to aluminum or steel. This makes the SR-M exceptionally effective at settling quickly after any physical contact, ensuring your imaging setup remains stable even in breezy conditions.

The 93 cm height is optimized for imaging setups where you are likely using a laptop or remote control rather than looking through an eyepiece. If you plan to use this for visual observation, you may find the height low depending on your telescope's length and your own stature.

Because it is made of wood, it is best to keep the tripod dry and store it in a temperature-controlled environment when not in use. Periodically wiping it down with a soft cloth is sufficient to keep it in good condition.
