Astrozap Dew Shield for Celestron SCT

This shield is specifically engineered for the dimensions of Celestron 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. While it may physically fit other 8-inch SCTs with similar outer tube diameters, we recommend verifying your telescope's exact outer diameter against the shield's specifications to ensure a secure, slip-free fit.

No tools are required. The shield is designed to slide directly onto the front of your optical tube, relying on a secure friction fit to stay in place during your observation session.

The 12-inch length is optimized to extend the light path, which effectively blocks ambient moisture from settling on your corrector plate. Additionally, this extension acts as a lens hood, helping to reduce stray light from entering the telescope and improving overall contrast.

The aluminum construction is lightweight and durable, designed specifically to minimize impact on your telescope's balance. However, if you are using a highly sensitive or precisely balanced equatorial mount, you may need to make minor adjustments to your counterweights after installation.

While the shield is durable, it is generally recommended to remove it before storing your telescope in a case or bag. Removing it ensures your telescope fits properly in its protective storage and prevents accidental damage to the shield during transport.
