Calatheas are sensitive to the chemicals often found in tap water, such as chlorine and fluoride. Using filtered or distilled water helps prevent brown, crispy edges on the leaves.

The Calathea Dottie prefers humidity levels of 50% or higher. You can easily maintain this by grouping it with other plants, placing it on a pebble tray with water, or using a small humidifier nearby.

While it is labeled as easy care, it does require consistent attention to watering and humidity. If you are willing to keep a regular maintenance schedule, it is a rewarding and manageable plant for newer plant owners.
