Specialized Roval Alpinist CL II

The primary difference lies in the hub and spoke construction. The CL II uses the reliable DT Swiss 350 hub and standard round spokes, whereas the CLX II features the lighter DT Swiss 240 hub and aero-bladed spokes to save additional weight.

These are designed for both. While they are exceptionally lightweight for climbing, they are built with durable DT Swiss hubs and high-impact carbon rims, making them robust enough for consistent, everyday road riding.

You can use either. The rims are tubeless-ready, meaning they are optimized for tubeless tires to provide better grip and puncture protection, but they remain fully compatible with standard clincher tires and inner tubes if you prefer that setup.

At 1375 grams for the set, these are significantly lighter than most stock alloy wheels and many mid-range carbon options. You will notice the difference most during steep climbs and when accelerating out of tight corners.

The Alpinist CL II is designed exclusively for disc brake systems. You do not need special rim brake pads, but you should ensure your disc rotors are compatible with the Center Lock mounting standard used on these hubs.
