It is a soil conditioner, not a fertilizer. While it helps your soil hold onto nutrients better, it does not provide a significant N-P-K value on its own, so you should continue your regular fertilization schedule.

Because it is granular, you can easily spread it by hand or with a standard broadcast spreader. For best results, lightly work it into the top inch of soil or water it in thoroughly after application to help the humates integrate with the soil profile.

Soil conditioning is a long-term process rather than a quick fix. Applying it once or twice a year—typically in the spring and fall—is usually sufficient to maintain improved soil structure and microbial activity.
