For a dense, weed-suppressing groundcover, space the plants about 12 inches apart. If you are using them as an edging along a walkway, spacing them 8 to 10 inches apart will create a more continuous, defined line.

Big Blue Liriope is a hardy perennial, typically thriving in USDA zones 5 through 10. In colder climates, the foliage may die back or turn brown during winter, but it will generally return in the spring.

While they are primarily used for landscaping, they can grow in containers. Just ensure the pot has adequate drainage holes, as Liriope prefers moist but well-drained soil rather than sitting in standing water.

It is very low-maintenance. The only significant task is trimming back the old foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth appears, which keeps the plant looking fresh and tidy for the upcoming season.
