The unglazed interior is a hallmark of traditional Tokoname-yaki pottery. Over time, the porous clay absorbs the oils and tannins from your tea, which can subtly mellow the flavor profile and enhance the brewing experience with each use.

The sasame filter is built directly into the clay body of the teapot. Because it is ceramic, it won't impart any metallic taste to your tea, and its precision-cut holes are designed to effectively strain fine leaves without clogging.

At 180ml, this teapot is best suited for personal use or serving two people small cups of concentrated tea, such as high-grade sencha or gyokuro. It is designed for multiple infusions rather than brewing a large volume at once.

Rinse the teapot with hot water immediately after use and allow it to air dry thoroughly with the lid off. Avoid using soap or detergents, as the porous, unglazed interior can absorb these scents and affect the flavor of future brews.

Most teapots feature a lid that sits on top of the rim. The inset design sits flush within the opening, creating a cleaner, more seamless silhouette and a tighter fit that helps retain heat during the brewing process.
