This plant thrives in bright, indirect light. Place it near a window with filtered sunlight, but avoid harsh, direct rays, which can scorch its delicate, velvety leaves.

It requires a bit more attention than a standard pothos or snake plant. The key is maintaining consistent, moderate-to-high humidity and being careful not to overwater, as it is prone to root rot if left in soggy soil.

Water only when the top inch or two of the soil feels dry to the touch. Because this plant prefers well-draining soil, ensure your pot has drainage holes and never let it sit in standing water.

The Alocasia Black Velvet is naturally compact. You can expect it to reach a mature height of about 12 to 18 inches, making it perfectly suited for desks, shelves, or smaller tabletops.

If your home is dry, you can boost humidity by placing the plant on a pebble tray filled with water, grouping it with other plants, or using a small humidifier nearby. Misting is generally less effective and can sometimes encourage fungal issues on the leaves.
