Altai Hok Ski

The Altai Hok skis offer a much smoother, more efficient glide than snowshoes while providing similar flotation in deep snow. Because they are shorter and wider than standard touring skis, they are significantly easier to maneuver through tight trees and brush, making them a great hybrid for backcountry exploration.

While you can technically use them on groomed trails, they aren't designed for it. The integrated climbing skin creates drag that will make them feel slow and sluggish compared to dedicated cross-country or downhill skis, and the short length lacks the stability needed for high-speed resort skiing.

The Pivot binding is designed to be versatile and accommodates a wide range of soft-shell winter boots, such as hiking boots or insulated winter boots. You do not need specialized ski boots to use this setup, which makes them very convenient for casual backcountry travel.

The climbing skin is permanently integrated into the base of the ski to provide reliable, maintenance-free traction. While it is not designed to be removed, it is durable enough to last for the lifespan of the ski with proper care.

The steel edges provide decent bite on firmer snow, allowing you to traverse with more confidence than a standard snowshoe. However, they are primarily built for soft, backcountry snow conditions, so expect them to feel less stable than a dedicated metal-edged touring ski on pure ice.
