Once your cactus arrives, gently inspect the roots and plant it in a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix. Avoid watering immediately; give the plant a few days to settle into its new soil before providing a light drink.

This cactus requires bright, direct sunlight to maintain its shape and healthy spine growth. A south-facing window is usually the best spot indoors, though it can also thrive on a sunny patio during warmer months.

As a drought-tolerant species, it prefers to dry out completely between waterings. During the active growing season, water sparingly when the soil is bone dry, and reduce watering significantly during the winter dormancy period.

While the spines look soft and fuzzy, they are still sharp and can cause irritation if touched. It is best to place this plant in a location that is out of reach for curious pets and children.

In its natural habitat, it can grow quite tall, but indoors, its growth is naturally restricted by the size of the pot and available light. You can expect a slow, steady vertical growth that makes it a great architectural accent for tabletops or shelves.
