Saturdays Pilosocereus pachycladus

Shipping bare root means the plant arrives without its pot or soil. This method is safer for the cactus during transit, as it prevents the soil from shifting and damaging the roots, allowing you to pot it immediately in your preferred well-draining cactus mix upon arrival.

While the spines are visually soft and fluffy compared to traditional, needle-sharp cacti, they are still spines. We recommend handling the plant with care or using gloves to avoid minor irritation.

The blue hue is a natural, protective coating called farina. To keep it vibrant, ensure the plant receives plenty of bright, direct sunlight and avoid touching the surface of the cactus, as the oils from your hands can rub the coating off.

Because it is a graft cutting, it is already established with its own root system, making it quite resilient. Simply treat it like any other cactus: provide warm temperatures between 25–35°C, plenty of light, and ensure the soil dries out completely between waterings.

Pilosocereus pachycladus requires a fast-draining, gritty substrate. We recommend using a commercial cactus or succulent mix amended with extra perlite or pumice to ensure water passes through quickly and prevents root rot.
