Film Photography Project Derev Pan Film

Derev Pan is a panchromatic film originally designed for aerial photography, which gives it a distinct, high-contrast look. You can expect exceptionally sharp results with very fine grain, making it a great choice for subjects where detail and texture are paramount.

Because the mylar base is thinner than standard acetate film, it is more susceptible to light piping, where light leaks into the roll through the film canister's felt trap. To avoid this, load and unload your camera in subdued lighting and store the film in a light-tight container immediately after shooting.

With an ISO of 400, this film is quite versatile for general-purpose shooting. It offers good exposure latitude, meaning it handles varied lighting situations well, though its high-contrast nature is best suited for scenes where you want to emphasize shadows and highlights.

While the results are beautiful, the thin mylar base requires a bit more care during handling than standard consumer films. If you are comfortable with manual loading and mindful of light exposure, it is a rewarding stock, but it may be challenging for those still learning the basics of film handling.

Each roll of Derev Pan provides 36 exposures, which is the standard length for 35mm film.
