California Tropicals Hoya Kerrii

Most single-leaf Hoya Kerrii specimens sold in small pots are rooted cuttings that often remain as a single leaf for a very long time. While it is technically possible for them to develop a vine, it is rare and requires specific conditions, so it is best to enjoy this plant for its charming, static heart shape.

While the Hoya Kerrii is a succulent and appreciates bright light, it will struggle in a dark corner or deep inside a room. To keep it healthy and prevent the leaf from stretching or fading, place it on a desk that is directly next to a window with bright, indirect light.

Because this is a succulent, it prefers to dry out completely between waterings. Check the soil every two weeks; if the soil is still damp, wait a few more days before adding water to prevent root rot.

The Hoya Kerrii is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs. However, it is always a good practice to keep houseplants out of reach of curious pets to prevent them from chewing on the leaves, which could cause mild stomach upset.

If you eventually repot your Hoya, use a well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. These mixes usually contain perlite or sand, which helps prevent water from pooling around the roots and keeps the plant healthy.
