It works beautifully in both. Because of its architectural shape, it makes an excellent focal point in a decorative pot, provided the container has excellent drainage holes and you use a high-quality cactus potting mix.

The Sunburst Prickly Pear is best suited for USDA hardiness zones 8b through 11. If you live in a colder climate, it is best to keep this plant in a container so you can move it indoors during freezing temperatures.

Very sparingly. Once established, this plant is highly drought-tolerant and prefers its soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common mistake, so err on the side of dryness.

Not at all. This Opuntia variety is known for reliable propagation. You can easily expand your collection by taking stem cuttings, letting the cut end callous over for a few days, and then planting it in well-draining soil.

You can expect this cactus to reach a mature height of approximately 50 centimeters. Its flattened, padded growth habit makes it a manageable size for smaller garden beds or patio arrangements.
