IMS Precision Filter Basket

This basket is designed specifically for Breville machines with a 54mm group head, such as the Barista Express, Pro, Touch, Bambino, and Infuser. It is not compatible with Breville's 58mm commercial-style machines like the Oracle or Dual Boiler.

For the best fit and even extraction, we recommend using a 53mm or 53.35mm tamper. A standard 53mm tamper will work, but a 53.35mm precision tamper will provide a tighter seal against the basket walls, reducing side channeling.

The IMS basket features a more precise, electro-polished perforation pattern that promotes more uniform water flow through the coffee bed. This consistency helps reduce channeling and typically results in a sweeter, more balanced espresso shot compared to standard factory baskets.

While the basket is optimized for a 14-18g dose, your specific coffee roast and grind size will dictate the actual capacity. Darker roasts are less dense and may require a lower dose, while lighter roasts are denser and may allow you to push toward the higher end of that range.

Yes, moving to a precision basket often requires a slight adjustment to your grind size. Because the hole pattern is more efficient, you may find that you need to grind slightly finer than you did with your stock basket to maintain your desired extraction time.
