Don't worry; this is a natural behavior called nyctinasty. The plant naturally folds its leaves at night or when it experiences stress, such as changes in light or movement, and will typically reopen them once conditions stabilize.

This species thrives in very wet conditions, mimicking its natural habitat near streams. You should ensure the substrate remains consistently saturated, as the roots prefer to be constantly moist rather than drying out between waterings.

It prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid placing it in direct, harsh sunlight, which can scorch the delicate foliage, especially if the plant is housed inside a glass terrarium where heat can build up quickly.

The Biophytum sp. Large will reach a mature spread of approximately 12 inches. Given its slow-growing nature, it makes an excellent focal point for medium-to-large terrariums without quickly outgrowing its space.
