Black Krim is a vigorous variety that typically reaches a mature height of about 72 inches, or six feet. Because they grow quite tall, you will need to provide sturdy staking or a trellis to support the heavy vines and fruit.

Unlike standard red tomatoes, Black Krims develop a deep, dark mahogany or brownish-purple color when ripe. They are ready to harvest when the fruit feels slightly soft to the touch and the shoulders show a deep, dusky hue.

While they can be grown in containers, you will need a large pot—at least 5 to 10 gallons—to accommodate the root system of such a vigorous plant. Ensure the container has excellent drainage and that you use a high-quality potting mix.

You can expect these tomatoes to reach maturity in approximately 75 days after transplanting. Keep in mind that germination takes about 6 to 10 days, so plan your starting schedule accordingly based on your local frost dates.

The most important factor is consistent sunlight and water. These plants require full sun to develop their complex flavor, and maintaining even soil moisture is crucial to prevent the fruits from cracking as they ripen.
