Maison Box Pleat Lampshade

The box pleat construction adds structure and depth to the shade, which helps to diffuse light more softly than a flat-sided drum shade. It creates subtle shadows within the pleats, resulting in a warm, ambient glow rather than harsh, direct illumination.

This shade works beautifully with metallic bases like brushed brass or antique bronze, which complement the rich navy tone. It also pairs well with ceramic or wooden bases, provided the lamp has a relatively simple silhouette to let the texture of the pleats stand out.

A good rule of thumb is that the shade's diameter should be roughly two-thirds the height of the lamp base. If you are placing the lamp on a side table, the 16-inch option is usually ideal, while the 18-inch size is better suited for larger floor lamps or substantial table lamps in wider spaces.

The fabric is semi-opaque. While it provides a rich, saturated color when unlit, it allows enough light to pass through to create a cozy atmosphere without being overly transparent.

To keep the pleats looking crisp, use a soft-bristled brush attachment on your vacuum or a lint roller to gently remove dust. Avoid using water or liquid cleaners, as these can damage the fabric finish and compromise the structure of the pleats.
