The 15-inch shade is designed for standard table lamps or larger bedside fixtures, while the 5-inch option is scaled for small accent lamps, such as those used on bookshelves or narrow console tables. As a general rule, the bottom diameter of the shade should be roughly equal to the height of the lamp base.
