This plant thrives in full sun, which means it requires at least six to eight hours of direct sunlight daily to maintain its compact, dense shape and produce its signature blooms.

Mr. Goodbud is an excellent choice for containers due to its compact, non-leggy growth habit. Just ensure your pot has adequate drainage holes to keep the succulent roots healthy.

Once established, this sedum is highly drought-tolerant and requires minimal supplemental watering. You should only water during extended dry spells, as the fleshy foliage stores moisture efficiently.

Mr. Goodbud is hardy in zones 3 through 9, meaning it can withstand cold winters across a wide range of climates. It is a perennial, so it will go dormant in winter and return in the spring.

It is very low maintenance and does not require deadheading to keep blooming. You can leave the dried seedheads on the plant through late autumn to provide winter interest and a food source for birds, then trim them back in early spring.

This sedum is quite adaptable and performs well in clay, loamy, or normal garden soils. The most important factor is that the soil drains well, as succulent varieties do not like to sit in standing water.
