Alherff Yixing Tea Pot

Zhu Ni is a porous, iron-rich clay that absorbs the oils and aromas of the tea brewed inside it. Over time, this 'seasons' the pot, subtly enhancing the flavor profile of the specific tea type you brew most frequently.

It is best to dedicate this pot to one specific type of tea, such as Oolong or Pu-erh. Because the clay is porous, it will retain the flavor of previous brews, which can muddy the taste if you switch between very different varieties.

Never use soap or detergents, as the clay will absorb the chemicals and ruin the flavor of your tea. Simply rinse the pot with hot water after each use and allow it to air dry thoroughly with the lid off.

This teapot is designed primarily for individual brewing or 'Gongfu' style tea ceremonies. While it can serve two people, it is best suited for a single user who enjoys multiple short, concentrated infusions.

The unglazed, traditional clay is delicate and can crack under the extreme temperature fluctuations of a microwave or the abrasive environment of a dishwasher. Hand washing with hot water is the only recommended method to preserve the integrity of the clay.
