WHEATLEY Abaca Placemats

Abaca, often called Manila hemp, is a natural leaf fiber known for its exceptional strength and durability. It is an ideal material for placemats because it holds its shape well and provides a sturdy, textured surface that protects your table while adding an organic, artisanal aesthetic.

Because these are made from natural fibers, you should avoid soaking them in water. Simply wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry completely before storing or using them again.

Since each piece is individually handwoven, slight variations in the weave and tension are expected. While they are designed to sit flat, you may notice minor differences in texture or shape from piece to piece, which is part of their unique, handcrafted character.

While abaca is a durable natural fiber, these placemats are designed primarily for decorative and protective use under dinnerware. We recommend using a trivet for hot pots or pans to prevent potential damage to the fibers or your table surface.
