This eyepiece uses a standard 1.25-inch barrel size, making it compatible with the vast majority of modern telescopes that accept 1.25-inch accessories.

An 82-degree apparent field of view creates an immersive, 'spacewalk' experience. It allows you to see a much wider area of the sky at once compared to standard eyepieces, which helps with framing deep-sky objects and makes tracking them easier.

With 15.6mm of eye relief, this eyepiece is generally comfortable for most users. However, if you wear glasses, you may need to get quite close to the lens or remove them to see the full 82-degree field of view without vignetting.

The argon-purging process removes all moisture from inside the eyepiece and replaces it with inert argon gas. This prevents the internal lenses from fogging up when you move your telescope from a warm house to a cold night sky.

It means that if you own other eyepieces in the Explore Scientific 82-degree series, they are designed to come to focus at roughly the same point. You will still likely need to make minor adjustments, but it significantly reduces the amount of refocusing required when switching magnifications.

The 8.8mm focal length provides a medium-to-high magnification that is excellent for resolving detail on planets like Jupiter and Saturn. It strikes a good balance, offering enough power to see features without pushing the magnification so high that the image becomes dim or unstable due to atmospheric conditions.
