Duan Ni clay is prized for its high porosity and air permeability, which allows the tea leaves to breathe during the brewing process. This unique characteristic helps to soften the water and enhance the flavor profile of your tea over time as the clay absorbs the oils from your infusions.

While Yixing teapots are versatile, they are best suited for semi-oxidized or fully oxidized teas like Oolong, Pu-erh, or black teas. Because the clay is porous and retains the aroma of the tea brewed in it, it is recommended to dedicate this pot to one specific type of tea to avoid flavor contamination.

The seven-hole filter is designed to provide a smooth, consistent pour while effectively straining out most tea leaves. It works best with rolled Oolong or larger leaf teas; very fine or broken-leaf teas may occasionally pass through the filter.

Never use soap or detergents, as the porous clay will absorb the chemicals and ruin the flavor of future brews. Simply rinse the teapot with hot water after each use and allow it to air dry thoroughly with the lid off.

The 5-ounce capacity is specifically designed for Gongfu-style brewing, which involves multiple short infusions of tea leaves. It is an ideal size for one or two people to enjoy several rounds of tea without needing a large vessel.
