Feed lips are wear items that eventually lose their tension or develop cracks from constant BB pressure and cycling. If you notice double-feeding, misfeeds, or the BBs aren't seating properly, it is usually time to replace them.

You generally only need a small punch tool or a precision screwdriver to remove the pin holding the old feed lip in place. While the process is straightforward, take care not to lose the small spring located underneath the feed lip during disassembly.

Polymer is actually the preferred material for feed lips because it provides a slight amount of flex, which helps prevent BB jams and reduces wear on the nozzle. Metal feed lips can sometimes be too rigid, leading to inconsistent feeding or damage to your nozzle over time.
