For the best balance of durability and aesthetics, we recommend applying three to four thin coats. Allow each layer to dry completely before applying the next to ensure a smooth, even finish without drips.

The shellac finish is very durable, but it is not permanent. Over several years of heavy use, the coating may wear down in high-friction areas, but you can easily touch up or re-apply shellac to restore the protection and look.

You can, but it is much easier to apply the shellac to the tape before wrapping your bars. If you choose to apply it while the tape is on the bike, be sure to mask off your brake levers, cables, and frame to prevent accidental drips.
