Surly Ogre Frameset

The Ogre is a true do-it-all platform designed for versatility. It excels as a rugged commuter, a bikepacking rig, or a reliable trail bike, handling everything from paved city streets to gravel roads and singletrack with ease.

Gnot-Boost is a clever design feature that allows the frame to accommodate both 135mm quick-release hubs and 148mm Boost thru-axle hubs. This gives you significant flexibility when sourcing wheels or upgrading your drivetrain later on.

The frame offers clearance for tires up to 71.12mm wide. This allows you to run either 29-inch or 27.5-inch wheels, giving you the option to prioritize rollover capability or agility depending on your terrain.

The Ogre is designed specifically as a rigid frameset. While you could technically install a suspension fork, the geometry is optimized for the included rigid steel fork to maintain the bike's intended handling characteristics.

The frame is constructed from 4130 Chromoly steel and features an E.D. (electro-deposition) coating. This internal and external coating provides excellent corrosion resistance, making it a dependable choice for wet weather or harsh, salty environments.

You will need a standard 73mm threaded bottom bracket and a 1-1/8 inch headset. These are widely available, reliable standards that make the bike easy to service and maintain over the long haul.
