Leather is significantly softer and more pliable, making it an excellent choice for horses with sensitive mouths or those who dislike the cold, hard feel of metal. It encourages a more relaxed acceptance of the bit, as the material conforms comfortably to the horse's tongue and bars.

While the Pelham design inherently utilizes poll pressure, the short shank on this model provides only moderate leverage. If your horse is extremely sensitive, you may want to start with the reins on the larger ring to minimize the leverage effect before moving to the lower shank.

To keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out or cracking, you should clean it after every ride with a damp cloth. Periodically, apply a high-quality leather conditioner safe for tack to maintain its integrity, ensuring you wipe off any excess before putting it back in your horse's mouth.

It comes fully equipped with the necessary curb chain and hooks, so you are ready to attach your reins and headstall immediately. Just ensure you have the appropriate curb rein and snaffle rein if you plan to use it with two sets of reins.
