Tokoname red clay is rich in iron, which is said to soften the water and enhance the flavor profile of green teas. Because it is unglazed, the teapot is porous and will absorb the oils of the tea over time, eventually seasoning the pot and adding depth to your brews.

Rinse the teapot with hot water immediately after use and allow it to air dry completely. Avoid using soap or detergents, as the porous clay will absorb the scent and residue, which can negatively impact the flavor of future teas.

The integrated stainless steel mesh filter is built into the design to ensure a smooth pour and keep leaves contained. It is not intended to be removed during normal use.

While you can use it for various teas, the unglazed clay will absorb the characteristics of the tea you brew most often. For the best experience, it is recommended to dedicate this pot to one specific type of tea, such as sencha or hojicha, to avoid flavor cross-contamination.

While the manufacturer lists it as dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing with warm water only. The unglazed clay is delicate, and harsh detergents or the high heat of a dishwasher can strip the pot's natural seasoning and potentially damage the material over time.
