Swix Alpine Snow Basket

These baskets are designed for most standard Swix alpine poles, but they are specifically engineered for backcountry use. It is best to check if your current pole model features a threaded or locking mechanism that accommodates standard Swix replacement baskets.

Standard resort baskets are smaller and aerodynamic to reduce weight and drag on groomed runs. These deep snow baskets are significantly wider to increase surface area, which prevents your poles from plunging too deep into soft, untracked powder.

Installation is straightforward and typically requires no special tools. Most Swix baskets simply screw on or snap into place, though you may need to warm the plastic slightly if the fit is very tight due to cold temperatures.

While they are larger than standard baskets, the added weight is negligible. The benefit of having consistent pole plants in deep snow far outweighs the minor increase in mass.

You can use them at the resort, but they are overkill for groomed runs. Their large diameter can sometimes catch on your skis or get in the way during tight turns on hard-packed snow, so they are best reserved for days with fresh, deep powder.
