KONG Frog Cable Connector

The Frog connector features spring-loaded jaws that remain open until they touch an anchor point. Once the internal trigger makes contact with the anchor, the jaws snap shut automatically, creating a secure, directional connection.

While the Frog is excellent for specific rigging tasks and difficult-to-reach anchors, it is primarily designed for rope access and rescue applications. It is not a standard quickdraw carabiner and should be used according to its specific certifications (CE EN 362/A/T and EN 12275/A).

It is designed to work best with cables, bolts, and specific anchor points where the trigger can be depressed. It may not function correctly on irregular or oversized surfaces that prevent the jaws from closing fully.

The aluminum alloy used is specifically chosen for its high strength-to-weight ratio, offering a major axis strength of 25 kN. It is highly durable for professional use, though like all aluminum hardware, it should be inspected regularly for signs of wear or deformation.

At only 70 grams, it is quite lightweight for a specialized connector of this strength. Its compact 89 mm length also ensures it won't be overly bulky when racked on your harness.
